Man found in water at Oak Street Beach identified as missing 21-year-old from Poland last seen leaving River North bar
CHICAGO (CBS)-- A man found in the water at Oak Street Beach early Wednesday morning has been identified as Krzysztof Szubert, 21, from Poland who went missing over the weekend after leaving a bar in River North.
Police said the 21-year-old was found unresponsive in the water off the 1000 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive just before 2 a.m. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Szubert was seen at the bar Howl at the Moon, at 26 W. Hubbard St. in River North, around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. He never came back to his hotel room, and his friends had not heard from him.
The Cook County Medical Examiner has ruled his death accidental. The ME reported stated it was an accidental drowning with ethanol intoxication as a contributing factor.
