Police: West Suburban Officer's Death Appears To Be Suicide

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS) -- A west suburban police officer apparently killed herself on Monday in her home in West Chicago.
Amy Ruff, 42, was found Monday in her home in West Chicago, according to the DuPage County coroner's office. She worked as an officer for the town of Wayne.
According to a release from the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, it appears Ruff suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports, officers from West Chicago and the DuPage County Sheriff's office, as well as evidence technicians from Villa Park and Warrenville were on the scene of the death at the home on Wiant Road in unincorporated West Chicago.
Late Tuesday morning, the house looked like any normal home, but several hours earlier, crime scene tape was up and police were investigating.
Neighbors said Ruff's husband is a DuPage County Sheriff's deputy. The couple had two preteen girls who were not home at the time, neighbors said.
According to neighbors, about 20 police squad cars, as well as ambulances, came to the block around 3:30 p.m. Monday. Crime scene investigators were at the home through the day and night.
The neighbors said the family kept to themselves, but seemed like a normal, happy neighborhood family.
