Deal Reached To End Strike At Hammond, Ind. Plant
(CBS) -- A deal has been reached to end a strike at the Lear Corp. plant in Hammond, Ind. after nearly 800 employees walked off the job Saturday morning.
"Workers reached a tentative contract agreement with Lear Sunday, ending the strike that began Saturday morning. The agreement shows that when workers stick together, we can win higher wages that help us support our families. The agreement is a victory not just for the 760 workers at our plant, but for thousands of auto workers across the country who do the same hard work we do and want to be able to reach the middle class," said Jaime Luna, president of the United Auto Workers Local 2335.
The Hammond facility supplies seats for Ford's Chicago plant. The terms of the contract will be released after the contract has been ratified. No date for the vote to ratify the contract has been set, according to the UAW,
