DCFS Investigating Parents For Neglect In Schaumburg Boy's Death
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) -- State child welfare officials are investigating the parents of a northwest suburban boy who died Saturday morning.
Trevor Labak, 12, of the 1700 block of Stratton Pond Lane in Schaumburg, was pronounced dead at 9:18 a.m. at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
An autopsy performed Sunday was inconclusive pending further investigation, authorities said.
The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating Trevor's parents for allegations of neglect, spokeswoman Veronica Resa said Sunday. Trevor's sibling has been placed under a DCFS-monitored safety plan, but it wasn't immediately known if that child had been removed from the household, Resa said.
The agency has not had prior contact with the family, she said.
Schaumburg police could not be reached for comment Sunday afternoon.
