DCFS Investigating Death Of South Suburban Infant
COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (STMW) - The state is investigating the Tuesday death of a south suburban Country Club Hills infant.
The 11-month-old boy became ill at his home and he was pronounced dead at 10:12 a.m. at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said it is investigating allegations of abuse against the boy's mother and father, DCFS spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said.
DCFS has had contact with the family since September 2008, and another child in the home is in the care of a relative, Whitelow said.
An autopsy on the boy is scheduled for Wednesday, the medical examiner's office said.
Country Club Hills police are investigating.
