DCFS Investigating Death Of 3-Month-Old
CHICAGO (CBS) -- State child welfare officials are investigating allegations of neglect in connection with the death of an infant from the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood.
Eli Reynolds, a 3-month-old boy, was found unresponsive on an air mattress at his home in the 8100 block of South Kenwood Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against both the boy's parents in connection with his death, spokesman Dave Clarkin said.
DCFS has had no prior contact with the boy's family, and Clarkin said he was not aware of any other children being in the home.
