Dart: If Elected Mayor, Brother's Business Would Have Suffered
Dart points again to how his family would have been affected if he were to run for mayor and been elected.
CHICAGO (AP) - Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says that had he been elected mayor of Chicago he would have had to tell his brother to stop doing business with the city.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Dart's younger brother, Tim Dart, is an attorney with a lobbying practice that last year alone was paid more than $540,000 to lobby Mayor Richard Daley's staff, the City Council and various city agencies on behalf of 15 clients.
Dart says he decided not to run because he knew that running and serving as mayor would mean far less time with his wife and children. He says that his brother's business was not a factor in his decision but says that had he been elected it would have hurt his brother's business a great deal.
