Daley Understands What Cutler Goes Through
A lot of people have voiced their opinion about Chicago Bears' quarterback Jay Cutler's injury and the backlash that followed the NFC Championship game.
But of those people, few have ever had to deal with the tremendous media and public scrutiny that Cutler endured. One person who is familiar with they type of scrutiny is mayor Richard M. Daley.
Daley was at Wheaton College on Thursday night to discuss his 22 years as mayor of Chicago and to talk about what it means to have a career in public policy.
The conversation took a quick detour when Daley was asked about his thoughts on Cutler.
"I get beaten up just like Jay, so I understand what he is going through," Daley said with a laugh.
Cutler suffered a grade II sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in the Bears loss in the NFC Championship game. The immediate backlash rose from the uncertainty of Cutler's injury as well as the quarterback's demeanor on the sideline.
