Daley To Give Paid Speeches After Leaving Office
CHICAGO (CBS/AP) -- Mayor Richard M. Daley said he's signed up with an agent to book speaking engagements after he leaves office in three months.
Daley said Tuesday morning that he's retained the Harry Walker Agency, a company that arranges paid speeches for a roster of politicians and celebrities, including former President Bill Clinton, cyclist Lance Armstrong, rock star Bono and astronaut John Glenn.

The mayor said he always planned to make public speaking part of his plans for when he leaves office in May. Daley said he's not sure how much he'll be paid for his speeches, but spokeswoman Jacquelyn Heard said other Harry Walker clients get up to $50,000 per speech.
Daley said he expects to talk about leadership, decision-making and government and plans to speak in both the U.S. and internationally.
Because of his unique style of speaking, Daley has a reputation of garbling his message with an occasional malapropism. He noted Tuesday he has traveled frequently on behalf of the city, adding through his speeches he will continue to advocate for Chicago.
