Dad Can Visit Daughter He Bound With Tape, Photographed For Facebook Page
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Cook County judge on Friday allowed Andre Curry to see the toddler he bound in tape and photographed — and then posted the picture on Facebook.
Judge Lawrence Flood said Curry can visit with the girl under the supervision of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services workers at neutral sites — anywhere but the home of any of the family members involved, Sun-Times Media is reporting.
Curry, 21, was released from Cook County Jail in January after Flood reduced his bond for domestic battery from $100,000 to $30,000.
Once he was out, DCFS evaluated Curry and determined that he should be able visit his daughter twice a week with supervision, Curry's attorney Zachary Hamilton said.
Curry was arrested in December when his Facebook friends from across the country reported that a controversial picture of his daughter's hands and feet bound in blue painter's tape had been posted on his Facebook page. Tape was also placed over her eyes.
"This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back," Curry allegedly wrote under the picture.
Curry's family has maintained that he posted the photo as a "joke" and would never harm the daughter he adores. The father recently talked with CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker and said he "wasn't thinking" about what he was doing.
Despite Flood's ruling Friday, Curry is still not allowed to have any contact with other witnesses in the case — including his own mother and sister, and the mother of his daughter.
