Cyclist Hit, Injured By Brown Line Train In Albany Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A bicyclist was recovering in the hospital Tuesday morning, after he was struck by a Brown Line 'L' train on the city's Northwest Side.
The train was near the Kedzie station in the Albany Park neighborhood, when it struck a man on a bike just after 10:30 p.m. Monday.
The Brown Line runs at grade level in that area, and the cyclist apparently went around the lowered gates and was hit by the train, according to Chicago Transit Authority spokesman Brian Steele.
The man was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital in serious condition.
CTA crews on the scene reported the man stood up and was walking after being hit, Steele said.
The incident temporarily halted all Brown Line trains between the Kimball and Belmont stations, but normal service resumed by 11 p.m., according to the transit agency.
