Cutler Worried About Ligament Damage In Ankle
(CBS) Jay Cutler is officially considered week-to-week with a high ankle sprain, but the Bears quarterback may be dealing with more than just an ankle sprain.
Cutler said Monday that there are concerns he may have suffered ligament damage in addition to the high ankle sprain, explaining why he was seen in a hard cast instead of a walking boot.
"There are a couple of ligaments that we're a little worried about that's different than the normal high ankle sprain," Cutler said. "There are a few other things involved. If I just had a normal high ankle sprain, I wouldn't be in a cast. (A cast) helps it scar up and stuff, but the normal high ankle sprain isn't really a concern at this point."
Bears head coach Marc Trestman officially ruled Cutler out for Sunday's game in St. Louis, meaning Josh McCown will start his third game of the season.
