Cutler Officially A Go While Bass Starts For McClellin
By Adam Hoge-
SOLDIER FIELD (CBS) — As expected. Jay Cutler will start at quarterback against the Lions, while Shea McClellin sits out with a hamstring injury.
Rookie David Bass will get the start at defensive end with McClellin out. Bass has impressed coaches this season after the Bears signed him just before the start of the season. A 2013 seventh-round pick, Bass was let go by the Oakland Raiders during final preseason cuts.
Also out for the Bears is longsnapper Patrick Mannelly, who suffered a calf injury against the Packers last week. Veteran Jeremy Cain was signed during the week to handle longsnapping duties.
The Lions, meanwhile, have their fair share of injuries too. Wide receiver Nate Burleson (forearm) is still out, while defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (ankle), cornerback Bill Bentley (knee) and offensive tackle Corey Hilliard (knee) will all miss Sunday's game.
