Cutler Amazed Favre Still Playing At 41
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- Jay Cutler idolized Brett Favre growing up and the Bears quarterback said he is amazed by the 41-year old Favre's durability; he's made an NFL record 293 straight starts.
"I didn't imagine he would still be playing when I was playing. I grew up watching him and John Elway. He still looks good," Cutler said Wednesday. "It's remarkable. Everyone's talked about it. Everyone knows what kind of precedent he's set, and it's going to be hard for anybody to touch that."
Everybody knows about Favre's strong arm, but his ability to make plays is what really impresses Cutler.
"His feel for the football. He's 41. He's played a lot of games and sees things others guys don't see. He's able to do things on the field that even some veteran guys who have played a lot of games aren't able to do," said Cutler.
And just when it looked like Favre was down for the count, the grandfather led the Vikings to another magical win last week. The Bears know he's dangerous at any age.
"He used to be called the comeback kid but you can't call him that anymore. He's more like the comeback extraordinaire. You have to tip your hat off to him and respect everything he has done," said Bears defensive lineman Anthony Adams.
Favre said Wednesday that he sees himself in Jay Cutler; that they both have a riverboat gambler mentality.
Sunday's Bears-Vikings outcome might just come down to the two quarterbacks and whether they play it close to the vest or go all in.
