Cubs Won't Turn To Complete Youth Movement
(WSCR) Although the Cubs have been playing better over their last few series, the club still sits under .500 and it's looking more and more like they won't be able to hang around and contend in the division.
Because the focus will soon turn to getting better for next season, and beyond, fans will soon push for the club to play more of their prospects.
"I think it's a balancing act," Cubs broadcaster Len Kasper said on the Danny Mac Show. "I think that it's easy to say: 'Just go out and play the kids, just go pay the kids.' But I think, when you're managing a team, and you look at what you have available each night, and you try to figure out what give you the best chance to win, number one, and also I think there's a little bit of a pecking order.

"I think Blake DeWitt has played very well lately, particularly on the offensive side, and filled-in in an unfamiliar position in left and has had some struggles defensively. But I think Mike [Quade] feels that Blake DeWitt has earned a little bit of that playing time. And you saw [DJ] Lemahieu in there the other night against [Mark] Buehrle, I think he is getting some opportunities. But I don't think [Quade] is going to throw the kids out there every single day, I just don't think that's going to happen."
