Cubs TV Network Could 'Certainly Work'
CHICAGO (WSCR) Some sports teams and conferences, in search of increased revenue, have created their own TV networks.
Could the Ricketts family do the same with a Chicago Cubs network?
"Obviously, you'd think there was demand for it," CNBC Sports Business reporter Darren Rovell said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "At the same time, this isn't the era of WGN and, you know, you're going to watch the Cubs in New York on your TV if your not a Cubs fan because that's what's on."

Because of WGN's national reach, and the fact that many Chicagoans relocate to other cities, the Cubs have one of the largest and most loyal national followings in baseball.
"So you'd think that the Cubs were a team that could do it," Rovell said. "That being said, and obviously, the Mets TV Network is worth what it's worth despite, you know, three or four years of horror. So, I'm not going to say that becuase the Cubs aren't performing on the field, or they don't, you know, win a World Series, long shot, that it's of no value. But there are, definitely, significant costs. But if you have enough content, and certainly having the tradition, and having enough content in just a baseball season, you know, it could certainly work."
