Cubs To Carry 12 Pitchers In NLCS With Addition Of Rob Zastryzny
(CBS) The Cubs have added a 12th pitcher to their National League Championship Series roster, as left-hander Rob Zastryzny has replaced infielder Tommy La Stella on the group that played in the NLDS.
The rest of the Cubs' roster will remain the same in this stage of the playoffs, as Chicago will continue carrying three catchers. There was some uncertainty as to whether veteran catcher Miguel Montero would be healthy enough to play after suffering from back soreness, but he's been included.
Part of the thinking in including Zastryzny is that the Dodgers' lineup is left-handed heavy. Zastryzny had a 1.13 ERA in 16 innings for the Cubs in the regular season.
La Stella batted just once in the Cubs' four NLDS games.
The Cubs host the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Saturday at Wrigley Field, with first pitch coming at 7:08 p.m. You can hear the hometown call on 670 The Score.
