Cubs Sign Scott Baker To One-Year Contract
(CBS) The Cubs signed right-handed pitcher Scott Baker to a one-year contract Tuesday.
Baker, 31, is coming off Tommy John surgery in 2011 that forced him to miss the entire 2012 season. The Twins declined his $9.25 million option when the offseason started, making him a free agent.
The right-hander spent the last seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins, going 63-48 with a 4.15 ERA in 163 appearances, 159 of which were starts. Before going on the disabled list in 2011, he had a 8-6 record with a 3.14 ERA.
The Twins originally drafted Baker in the second round of the 2003 draft out of Oklahoma State.
