Cubs Sign OF DeJesus To Two-Year Deal
(CBS) Free agent outfielder David DeJesus became Theo Epstein's first signing with the Cubs, agreeing to a tw0-year deal with the team Wednesday.
The deal includes a club-option for 2014.
DeJesus, 31, can play all three outfield positions and gives the Cubs a much-needed left-handed bat in the lineup. He has a career .294 average in nine major-league seasons and batted in all nine lineup spots with the Oakland Athletics last season.
DeJesus lives in Wheaton during the offseason.
