Cubs Send Dempster To Disabled List
(WSCR) According to a report, the Cubs have placed right-handed pitcher Ryan Dempster on the disabled list.
The Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan tweeted that Sullivan is suffering from right lat muscle tightness.
The news is especially damaging for the Cubs, as Dempster figured to be one of their most attractive pieces for potential buyers at the trade deadline. Dempster is currently riding a 22 consecutive scoreless innings streak over his last three starts.
Through 12 starts this season, Dempster is 3-3 with a 2.11 ERA.
Sullivan reports Scott Maine has been called up from Triple-A Iowa to take Dempster's roster spot, and Randy Wells moves into the rotation, pitching Wednesday against the White Sox.
This is his second DL stint of the season, after he missed two starts in April with a quad injury.
