Cubs, Rooftop Owners Meet At Wrigley
(CBS) - In an attempt to solve the dispute between the Cubs and the Wrigleyville rooftop owners, the two sides met at Wrigley Field on Monday afternoon.
To increase revenue to complete roughly $300 million in renovations to the ballpark, the Cubs are looking to relax the landmark restrictions on the field so they can add more signage, night games and concerts. Consequently, these signs would restrict the view from the rooftop decks.
The two sides met for two and a half hours Monday. Cubs president Tom Ricketts was reportedly out of town, but joined the meeting via phone. Beth Murphy, who acted as the lead spokesperson for the rooftop owners last week when rolling out a new proposal for the Cubs, again represented the owners.
While no decisions were finalized in yesterday's meeting, Cubs' spokesman Dennis Culloton told Crain's Chicago Business the meeting was "a good information sharing session" and confirmed that both sides will meet again this week.
