Cubs RHP Dempster Goes On DL With Strained Quad
CHICAGO (AP) — Cubs right-hander Ryan Dempster has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps.
Chicago also recalled outfielder Tony Campana from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday.
Dempster (0-1) was scheduled to make his fourth start Sunday against the Reds. He has allowed only three earned runs this season, but the Cubs have scored just three runs while he's been in the game.
Chicago will recall right-hander Randy Wells to start in Dempster's place Sunday. Wells was 1-0 with a 9.42 ERA for Triple-A Iowa in three starts. Wells made 23 starts for the Cubs last season and was 7-6 with a 4.99 ERA.
Campana hit .304 with eight stolen bases in 14 games for Iowa.
