Cubs Recall Maine, Campana From Triple-A Iowa
CHICAGO (CBS) The Chicago Cubs have recalled pitcher Scott Maine and outfielder Tony Campana from Triple-A Iowa, the team announced on Tuesday.
The call-ups will fill the roster spots left open when outfielder Tyler Colvin and right-handed pitcher Marcos Mateo were sent to Iowa.
This is Campana's first trip to the Majors, he will wear No. 41, Maine will wear No. 57 and both players will be available for Tuesday night's game in Cincinnati.
A 13th round selection in the 2008 Draft, Campana has a career minor league batting average of .303 (357-for-1,178) in four seasons. He played his college ball at the University of Cincinnati.
The 26-year old Maine made his Major League debut last season, and in 13 innings pitched, posted a 2.08 earned run average. The left-handed pitcher was 2-1 with seven saves and a 2.84 ERA (6 ER/19.0 IP) in 14 relief outings with Iowa this season.
Colvin was sent down after going 7-for-62 with two home runs and eight runs batted in, in 28 games for the Cubs this season.
