Cubs Place Carlos Marmol On Disabled List
MILWAUKEE (CBS) - The Chicago Cubs placed right-handed pitcher Carlos Marmol on the disabled list Saturday with a strained right hamstring, and called up right-handed pitcher Casey Coleman from Triple-A Iowa.
For Iowa this season, Coleman has gone 2-3 with a 3.48 ERA in seven games, including six starts. He has walked 16 and struck out 30 while limiting opponents to a .205 batting average.
Coleman, 24, is 7-11 with a 5.48 ERA in 31 major league games since making his debut for Chicago in 2010. In four stints with the Cubs last season, he was 3-9 with a 6.40 ERA in 19 games.
Marmol, 29, is 0-1 with two saves and a 6.35 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the Cubs this season.
