Cubs Looks To 'Keep Rolling' After Back-To-Back Wins
CHICAGO (CBS) The Chicago Cubs are 4-9 in June, a record that hardly encourages optimism for the team that has the third worst record in baseball. But if the last two games are any indication, the rest the season could be an improvement.
The Cubs started their four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers with a 1-0 win, behind a stellar pitching performance from Ryan Dempster and an eight inning run.
On Tuesday, the Cubs got their second consecutive win. After trailing for most of the game, the North Siders scored three runs in the eight to tie the game, and then finished off the Brewers in the 10th, for a 5-4 win.
"We've been grinding," catcher Geovany Soto said. "We've been working hard in every aspect. We've been hitting a lot, you know, just trying to get into a groove. And you know, these couple of games, they've been pretty good, they've been a boost. You know, hopefully we can build on this and keep rolling."
A win on Wednesday night would give the Cubs their longest winning streak of the season.
Chicago will send Carlos Zambrano (5-3) to the mound to square off agaisnt Chris Narveson (3-4).
