Cubs Draft Sons Of Wayne Gretzky And Shawon Dunston

CHICAGO (CBS) The next "Great One" could be coming to Chicago, but he won't be playing hockey.

The Cubs drafted high school first baseman Trevor Gretzky, son of NHL Hall-of-Famer Wayne Gretzky, in the seventh round Tuesday.

Gretzky is currently playing at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, Calif. and has a scholarship to play at San Diego State next year. He will have to decide between the Aztecs and the Cubs.

For what it is worth, Baseball America believes Gretzky will end up in college:

"Long-levered and projectable at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Gretzky has plenty of holes in his swing, and his feel for hitting needs to improve. But he does have power projection and natural hand-eye coordination. He's a poor runner who has a long way to go defensively at first base, and he's likely to wind up at San Diego State."

The Cubs also selected another familiar name in the 11th round when they drafted Shawon Dunston Jr., the son of former Cubs outfielder Shawon Dunston.

Dunston Jr. is an outfielder at Valley Christian High School in Fremont, Calif. He is currently committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt.
