Cubs' 2015 Season Opener Moved To Sunday Night Baseball On April 5
(CBS) The Cubs figure to have a new-look squad next season, and it won't take long for a national audience to get a close look.
The Cubs' 2015 season opener against the Cardinals has been moved up a day and will be showcased on ESPN2 on MLB's Opening Night. The game will start at 7:05 p.m. It was previously scheduled for Monday, April 6 in the afternoon.
It will mark the first Opening Night in Wrigley Field history.
The Cubs and Cardinals will now have an off-day on April 6 before playing at 7:05 p.m. on April 7 and at 1:20 p.m. on April 8.
There's a wealth of optimism surrounding the Cubs right now, which figures to be why ESPN decided to pick up their opener. Chicago recently hired Joe Maddon as its new manager, and the club is a serious suitor for ace left-hander Jon Lester and catcher Russell Martin in free agency.
