Cub Scout Dies After Fall At Kankakee County Park
BRADLEY, Ill. (CBS) -- The Kankakee County sheriff's office says the death of a Cub scout who fell on a hike Saturday appears to be a tragic accident.
It happened late Saturday afternoon at Perry Farm Park along the Kankakee River in Bradley. A Cub Scout troop was out for a hike when 9-year-old Aiden DiTola fell, Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ken McCabe said.
"There are witnesses who saw it happen. There's no question as to whether there was foul play. There's no indication of that whatsoever," McCabe said. "It looks like a tragic accident, where the young person slipped and fell and struck his head on the way down and struck it when he got to the bottom of the ravine."
McCabe said the boy fell about 15 feet Saturday. He was pronounced dead on Sunday afternoon.
