CUB offers a free "Energy Saver" program, an online service that offers tips on cutting your monthly utility bills.
"People are used to getting nickeled and dimed by their utility bills. Energy efficiency and CUB Energy Saver can help you nickel and dime them right back," CUB spokesman Jim Chilsen said.
He also said the combined savings in the Chicago area this winter could offset the amount of the rate increase recently granted to Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas.
