CHICAGO (CBS) -- An employee of a CTA credit union on the Northwest Side was critically wounded when he was shot during a robbery Thursday morning.
Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said, around 8:50 a.m., a 70-year-old man was shot in the leg at 642 N. Pulaski Rd. That's the site of a CTA bus garage and CTA credit union.
A CTA spokesperson confirmed the victim is a retired CTA employee who now works for the CTA credit union.
Sources said the man was leaving the credit union with approximately $140,000 in cash, when he was robbed by two men, and was shot in the leg.
The CTA would not confirm if the victim was an armed guard working at the credit union, or if he was leaving the bank with his own money when he was robbed.
Estrada said the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Area North Detectives were questioning two male persons of interest who were taken into custody after the robbery.
Police said the money has not been recovered.
