CTA Trains Operating Normally After Man Fatally Struck
CHICAGO (STMW) - CTA Red and Brown Line trains are operating with delays after a man died when he was struck by a Brown Line train near the Wellington stop early Saturday.
The man in his early 20s apparently fell on the tracks as the train pulled into the station, according to Fire Media Affairs. He was dead at the scene at 945 W. Wellington Ave.
A male was struck by a train and killed about 1:40 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. He did not immediately have additional details.
CTA spokesman Steve Mayberry said it appeared the man fell on the tracks. The Red Line was back up and running as of about 2:40 a.m. and that the Brown Line resumed service sometime around 3 a.m., he said, though Brown Line service ended at 3:19 a.m. as it normally does.
CTA used bus shuttles to transport commuters during the incident, he said.
Crews were working to restore service the CTA said. Additional details were not immediately available.
