CTA To Offer Extra Service For Chicago Cubs Parade, Rally
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Transit Authority will offer additional service Friday for the city's celebration of the Cubs' World Series championship.
Extra service will be provided on all rail lines following the morning rush period through midday.
The official parade route will start at approximately 11 a.m., departing from Wrigley Field at 10 a.m., and travel along Michigan Avenue between Oak Street and Ohio Street and then along Columbus Drive between Monroe Street and Balbo Avenue.
The parade will be followed immediately by a rally at approximately 12 p.m. at Lower Hutchinson Field in Grant Park.
Fans are encourage to view the parade at the following locations:
-- Addison Street from Sheffield Avenue to Pine Grove Avenue
-- North Michigan from Oak Street to Ohio Street
-- Columbus Drive from Monroe Street to Balbo Avenue
CTA travelers are strongly encouraged to allow extra travel time. Multiple CTA bus routes will be detoured in the downtown area as a result of street closures for the parade and rally.
Bikes won't be allowed on CTA trains between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. CTA asks customers to fold strollers and carts before boarding buses and trains.
CTA also advises customers to purchase fares in advance to decrease travel times and avoid long lines.
