CTA Provides Shuttle, Bus Service For Chicago Auto Show
CHICAGO (STMW) - The CTA will operate special shuttle buses for people attending the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, and will provide service during all show hours on three regular bus routes.
The 2011 Chicago Auto Show -- the largest and longest-running auto show in North America -- runs from Friday through Sunday Feb. 20 at McCormick Place. Public show hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Feb. 19, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 20, according to the auto show's website.
Special auto show buses will shuttle visitors between Downtown 'L' lines and McCormick place on weekends and weekdays, according to a release from the CTA. The buses start at the Ogilvie Transportation Center at Clinton and Madison, making stops on Clinton Street before turning east on Jackson Boulevard to Wabash Avenue.
Red and Blue line riders can connect to the shuttle via Jackson Boulevard rail stations, the release said. Brown, Green, Orange and Pink line riders should get off at the Adams/Wabash station and walk one block south to Jackson. The buses will also stop at the Museum Campus (Columbus Drive and 11th Street) before running express to McCormick Place.
On weekends only, a separate shuttle will operate every 15 minutes between McCormick Place and the Halsted Orange Line station beginning 30 minutes before the show opens until approximately an hour after it closes, the release said.
Three regular CTA bus routes will also service McCormick Place during show hours, according to a release from the CTA.
--No. 3 King Drive: Service every six to 15 minutes from North Michigan Avenue and the South Side.
--No. 21 Cermak: Service every 11 to 20 minutes from North Riverside Park Mall on the West Side and Mercy Hospital on the South Side. Transfer from Red Line trains at the Cermak-Chinatown station.
--No. 129 West Loop/South Loop: Operates during weekday rush periods only between Ogilvie Transportation Center and McCormick Place.
Regular bus, rail and transfer fares apply, according to the release.
