Crystal Lake Students In Trouble For Sexting
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- A number of Crystal Lake high school students are facing disciplinary action for sexting.
As WBBM Newsradio's Pat Cassidy reports, Crystal Lake Police Chief Dave Linder tells the Northwest Herald four girls and six boys were involved in the sexting at Prairie Ridge High School.

The girls sent sexually compromising photos to the boys via their cell phones, and the boys later passed them to friends via the Internet and phone messaging, the Northwest Herald reported.
The McHenry County State's Attorney's office could have charged the students, all of whom are juveniles, but decided not to, the newspaper reported.
Crystal Lake High School District 155 officials say state law prevents them from saying what will be done about it, if anything, the newspaper reports.
The Prairie Ridge High School norms of conduct prohibits sexting, or possessing lewd material on an electronic device in school, the Northwest Herald reported.
Teens caught sexting in some jurisdictions can be subject to child pornography charges and be forced to register as sex offenders and live a certain distance from schools if convicted.
But a 2010 state law lessens the punishment for minors for sexting, requiring only supervision, counseling and community service, the newspaper recalls.
