Crowds Rush Into Apple Store For iPhone 4S

CHICAGO (CBS) -- At 8 a.m. Friday morning, crowds rushed into the Apple store on Michigan Avenue as it began selling the newest must-have tech item – the iPhone 4S.

As WBBM Newsradio's Nancy Harty reports, cheering Apple employees opened the doors to more than 100 people, with the first lining up 11 hours earlier.

Among those eager to get their hands on the iPhone 4s was Will, who for the last two months has been without a smart phone.

"I actually had an iPhone, and it broke, and so I was like, 'You know what? I'll wait for the new one to come out. So that was like two months ago, so I just decided to finally be back, reunited with Apple," he said.

Paran was among the first to emerge from the store with the coveted product – at record speed.

"Seven minutes. That's awesome. You can't get a hamburger in 7 minutes, but you can get an iPhone," he said.

Apple will not say how many iPhones it has in stock its store at 679 N. Michigan Ave., but placed a limit of two per customer.
