"We're having a blast – well, it's all about the fashion, right?" said a woman at the event.
And fashion there was. From drag queens to debutantes, more than 400 movie lovers came out to the Park West.
Organizer Brian Richardson, of the Center on Halsted gay and lesbian community center, said the event drew record crowds.
"We already exceeded all of our goals just by selling out before the event started," Richardson said.
And while the real Oscars may have been far away, attendees said the Park West was the next best local choice.
"I love the theater and the venue. It's amazing, and perfect for a party like this," a woman said.
