Crews Respond To Smoke On Blue Line Train

CHICAGO (STMW) - A northbound Blue Line subway train is on the move again after its brakes began smoking Saturday afternoon in West Town.

At 12:29 p.m. brakes on a northbound Blue Line train near the Grand station were reportedly smoking, according to CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles. That station is located at the intersection of Halsted, Grand and Milwaukee.
The train stopped so they could investigate, but once authorities found there was no danger, the train was on the move again, according to Myles.

"There was about a 20 minute delay,'' Myles said. Service was back to normal by 1 p.m.

An EMS Plan I, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene, and a still and box alarm were canceled as of 12:50 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.

No one was hurt, said Knight.
