Crews Extinguish Fire At Catering Company
NORTHLAKE, Ill. (STMW) - Emergency crews responded Sunday morning to a fire at a building that houses a catering company and bakery in west suburban Northlake.
Emergency personnel responded to the blaze near the intersection of West North Avenue and North Wolfe Road about 5:30 a.m., police said. Eastbound North Ave. was blocked to traffic between Wolfe Rd. and South Prater Avenue.
The fire, at 23 E. North Ave., started in the catering company and was contained to the basement of the building, said Northlake Fire Protection District Lt. Herb Milnes.
Cuomo Catering is listed at that address.
Milnes said there was not extensive fire damage, but the building did sustain heat and smoke damage.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene by 9 a.m., he said.
Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicated that the blaze was upgraded to an extra-alarm fire.
