Crash Ties Up Southbound Lake Shore Drive
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A driver lost control of his car Thursday morning and slammed into a guardrail on southbound Lake Shore Drive, causing a traffic jam as the morning rush began.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the crash happened sometime before 6:30 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive near Waveland Avenue. The car was slammed into, and bent, the guardrail on the parkway that separates outer Lake Shore Drive from inner Lake Shore Drive, and spun around.
The airbag was deployed, but the man looked to be uninjured as he spoke with authorities. It is not known if he suffered any injuries.
The crash shut down the right lane of southbound Lake Shore Drive until the car was towed. Traffic was a mess from Irving Park Road to Waveland Avenue.
