LEMONT, Ill. (CBS) -- A serious crash shut down several lanes of busy Route 83 early Thursday near Lemont.

The driver proceeded farther, only to curve over again and hit a guard rail, and finally to travel another half mile before hitting the wall again and coming to rest about half a mile away bear near Bluff Road, reports CBS 2's Kris Habermehl.
The car was towed away just after 6:30 a.m. The SUV was also mounted on a flatbed tow truck soon afterward.
At least one person was taken to the hospital from the scene, WBBM Newsradio reports.
As of 6:30 a.m., a lane of northbound Route 83 was blocked, and everyone was being forced into the northbound turn lane. The left lane was also blocked on the southbound side of the road.
