5-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Inbound Elgin-O'Hare
UPDATED 05/10/11 10:29 a.m.
ROSELLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A five-vehicle crash shut down the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway at the height of rush hour Tuesday morning.
Four cars and a pickup truck were involved in the crash on the eastbound Elgin-O'Hare near Roselle Road, Illinois State Police said.
The crash began with a silver 2003 Honda Accord, which was headed west on the expressway and crossed over the median strip, hitting one of the other cars and rolling over.
That caused a domino effect, leading the other vehicles to crash, state police said.
A 2007 Chevrolet sport-utility vehicle, a four-door 2000 Cadillac, a Toyota Camry and a 2000 Lincoln pickup were also involved, state police said.
Four people were taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, and another to an unidentified hospital.
The eastbound expressway was closed until around 8:45 a.m., state police said.
