Crash On Bishop Ford Injures 6, Closes Southbound Lanes
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Six people were injured in a traffic crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle on the Bishop Ford Freeway early Tuesday, prompting authorities to close the interstate's southbound lanes to travel.
The crash occurred about 12:05 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near 130th Street when a passenger vehicle hit a semi-truck, according to Illinois State Police. A second semi-truck was also involved in the crash, state police said.
Six people who were in the passenger vehicle were taken to area hospitals, state police said. Three were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other three were taken to Metro South Hospital in Blue Island, state police said.
Their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening, state police said.
The passenger vehicle carrying the six people caught fire after the wreck.
