Crash In DeKalb Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Critically Hurt
DeKALB, Ill. (CBS) -- One man was killed and two other people were critically injured in a car crash early Sunday near the Northern Illinois University campus.
The car the victims were in rear-ended a semi trailer truck around 4:15 a.m. at 700 W. Lincoln Hwy., according to DeKalb Police Cpl. Curt Biarnesen. Their car was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police said the two surviving victims were sitting in the back seat at the time of the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not immediately clear if the victims were wearing seat belts or if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
