Crain: Ozzie Understands The 'Ups And Downs' Of A Season
CHICAGO (WSCR) An important element of Ozzie Guillen's managerial skills can get lost amongst the Tweeting, press conference rants and on-field antics. Despite all of the distractions, Guillen has the loyalty and respect of his players.
"I think Ozzie is a great manager," White Sox reliever Jesse Crain said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "He played for so long, he understands that there's going to be ups and downs during the season and he's very good at taking it upon himself to take the heat for a lot of players and coaches, as you've seen.

"I think that only gains him respect throughout the clubhouse...becuase guys know that this is what you're job is and he's going to stick up for you as much as he can. And I think that's what I like a lot about playing for Ozzie."
Coming over from the Minnesota Twins, Crain had a big adjustment to make. Ron Gardenhire, as Crain says, was always a bit high-stressed in the dugout, and Guillen maintains a slightly different dugout demeanor.
"I like Ozzie just because he stays kind of relaxed," Crain said. "Obviously he's going to get mad sometimes, but in the long run he understands."
