Crain Heads To Disabled List
(CBS) The White Sox's 19-2 drudging of the Rangers was met with a taste of reality when the team learned reliever Jesse Crain would be headed to the 15-day disabled list.
The right-handed relief pitcher is working to overcome tightness in his right shoulder.
"I'm glad it's not structural," Crain told the Chicago Tribune.
Crain hasn't pitched since June 23, meaning the club could put him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 24 and activate the pitcher for the start of the second half on June 13 against the Royals.
"We might set a record for rookies," manager Robin Ventura said, as the White Sox are currently carrying nine rookies on their 25-man roster.
The White Sox have called up right-handed pitcher Deunte Heath from Triple-A Charolette to take Crain's roster spot.
