CPS Teacher Charged With Rape
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago Public School teacher has been removed from the classroom after being charged with rape.
Lewis Himes, Jr, 41, is a seventh and eighth-grade teacher at Turner Drew Language Academy, 9300 South Princeton.
"CPS is aware of these allegations, and the employee has been removed from the classroom. We will follow any legal proceedings and take further action at the appropriate time as needed," CPS spokesman David Miranda said in a statement.
Himes was arrested on Monday after the alleged sexual assault happened at a friend's home last month.
The victim was not affiliated with the school.
Himes, of the 900 block of E. 54th Street, was being held on a $250,000 bond and has been charged with criminal sexual assault.
