CPS Students To Lose Days Off To Make Up For Teachers' Strike
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Public Schools students who missed seven days of classes because of the teachers strike will be making up those days.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, the CPS system has come out with a revised calendar. One of the teachers' strike makeup days for all students will be President's Day on Feb. 18.

Year-round Track E schools will lose a week of their October break from Oct. 15 through Oct. 19, and will have one day tacked onto the end of the school year in June.
Regular-schedule schools will lose two days of their winter break, and have four days added out at the end of the school year.
"Every single day counts. These changes to the school calendar ensure our students continue to benefit from more quality time in the classroom in front of our teachers," CPS chief executive officer Jean-Claude Brizard said in a news release.
Because teachers will now be working Presidents' Day – a day they normally would have had off – they will be paid for working that day and get paid for the holiday at the end of the year.
