Cowley: Sox Are 'Talking To Everyone'
(WSCR) It's day two of baseball's winter meetings, and things are just getting started for the White Sox.
GM Kenny Williams woke up Chicago when he dealt Sergio Santos to the Blue Jays for Nestor Molina. It appears Williams and the Sox have moved into rebuilding mode.
The White Sox are trying hard to move starting pitcher John Danks. Reports indicate the team is shooting high with the young lefty, as they've already asked the Yankees for Manny Banuelos and Jesus Montero -- two of their best prospects -- in exchange for Danks.
"They are talking to everyone," Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "From some of the people I've talked to, what they've asked of the Yankees is minor compared to what they've asked from some other teams. They are obviously starting the bar very high and then will slowly lower it and see who nudges and who is interested. They don't have to do a deal. They can still control him. They can use this as a feeling process for July if things aren't going well in June or July.

Another order of business for the White Sox is determining what to do about Mark Buehrle. While it seems unlikely the veteran left-hander will return to Chicago, Cowley said the White Sox will have the final say.
"They have been promised by both Mark Buehrle and his agent, Jeff Barry, that no matter what the final offer is, they will go back to the White Sox and say, 'This is it. This is what we've been offered. What do you guys think?' It's kind of the same kind of deal they had with Konerko," Cowley said. "That's done out of respect for each other."
