Cowley: 'Bizarre Decisions' Have Been Made By Williams
(WSCR) As the White Sox continue to struggle through the season, a lot of discussion has started as to where the blame should fall. Recent comments by Ozzie Guillen and Ken Williams make it sound like they feel the other is to blame.
"I think we all know what's going on," Joe Cowley, of the Chicago Sun-Times, said on the Danny Mac Show. "We're at the point now, and I think it was on display at Wrigley Field last weekend, where you have manager who's tired of a general manager slightly undermining him and throwing him under the bus at bizarre times.

"And I think you have a manager who is still frustrated with the personnel and how it matches up with his philosophy and what he wants to do. So, I think they've gotten away from the formula that's worked. I don't understand why. I don't know why Kenny Williams is into chasing these different themes every year, and one year deciding he wants power pitching out of the bullpen and then the next year wanting high on-base percentage guys.
"You stick to what it was after the '04 house clearing, when they went with National League-type style team, they still had some power guys in the middle, they still hit home runs, but the emphasis was pitching and defense. And they've gotten away from that. Some bizarre decisions, I think, have been made the last couple years. And it points to the office of Ken Williams."
