Courthouse Officers Find Loaded Gun In Indiana Woman's Purse
(CBS) – A 38-year-old Indiana woman was arrested for trying to enter the Daley Center with a loaded gun, the Cook County Sheriff's Department says.
Ana Claudia Gomez was in Chicago to help her father in an eviction case Friday morning when deputies at a courthouse screening station discovered a semi-automatic 9-mm handgun in her purse, the department said in a news release. The gun was loaded with seven bullets, including three hollow-point rounds.
Gomez has a license to carry a firearm in Indiana, officials say. She reportedly told officers she forgot the gun was in her purse.
She was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and was bonded out over the weekend. Gomez is free on $25,000 bail.
